Use this guide to create and publish your first rule. Every new rule starts as a draft, so you can shape the conditions and review the plain-language summary before you publish it.
Setup checklist
- Install Cart Marshal from the Shopify App Store.
- Open the embedded app from Shopify admin.
- Run the dashboard checkout scan.
- Review your current plan and the templates it unlocks.
- Choose a rule family: Discounts, Payment, Delivery, or Restrictions.
- Pick a template, fill out the form, and review the summary.
- Save the rule as a draft.
- Publish the rule when the summary matches what you want it to do.
- Confirm the result with one cart that qualifies and one that does not.
A good first rule
Shipping Discount is a welcoming place to start because the threshold, eligible shipping options, and product exclusions are easy to see in the summary. Product / Order Discount is another straightforward choice when you want to launch a collection, customer, or order-level offer.
Confirm your rule
- Confirm the rule status is Published and In sync.
- Build one cart that qualifies.
- Build one cart that does not qualify.
- Check whether recurring schedule windows are active.
- Run the checkout scan if a native discount, free-shipping rate, or another checkout app may overlap.
