Each Cart Marshal rule has a clear status, so you can see what is running at checkout and what is still being prepared.
Draft
A draft is saved in Cart Marshal but does not affect checkout. Use it to configure conditions, review the summary, and collect any internal approval your team needs.
Publish
Publishing makes the rule live through Shopify. After publishing, confirm the result with a cart that meets the conditions and one that does not.
When you edit a published rule, Cart Marshal saves your changes as unpublished edits. The current published version keeps running until you publish the updated version.
Unpublish
Unpublishing stops the rule at checkout while preserving its configuration. Publish it again whenever you want it to resume.
Archive
Archiving moves an inactive rule out of your working rule list while keeping it available for reference. Archived rules do not affect checkout and do not count toward your published-rule limit. You can restore an archived rule later.
Out-of-sync repair
Out of sync means the version in Shopify no longer matches the rule saved in Cart Marshal. This can happen when a Shopify discount or customization is deleted, deactivated, renamed, rescheduled, or changed outside Cart Marshal.
Use Fix to send Cart Marshal's saved version back to Shopify. If you changed the Shopify version intentionally, review the Cart Marshal summary first so the saved version reflects what you want to run.
Timeline and audit
- Growth and Pro include the rule audit trail: created, edited, published, unpublished, archived, and unarchived events.
- Pro adds timeline comments, the store-wide dashboard audit, Settings and Billing change history, and audit CSV export for governance workflows.
Stacking and combinations
Discount combinations are controlled by each discount rule and by store defaults in Settings. Cart Marshal can request combination behavior for product, order, and shipping discounts, but Shopify's own combination rules still apply.
