Common Cart Marshal Examples

Match your discount, payment, delivery, restriction, and wholesale goals to the Cart Marshal template that handles them.

Use these examples to choose a template. Open the linked guide for field-level configuration, eligibility controls, and plan requirements.

Discount campaigns

  • Free standard shipping over $50, excluding oversized products: Use Shipping Discount. Choose free shipping, target the standard rate, require a $50 minimum, and exclude oversized products by product, tag, or collection.
  • Take $5 off shipping over $75: Use Shipping Discount. Choose a fixed shipping discount, keep shipping-option targeting broad, and require a $75 minimum.
  • 10% off a collection, excluding markdown items: Use Product / Order Discount. Target the collection, choose 10%, and configure markdown exclusions.
  • Run a recurring Friday promotion: Use Product / Order Discount with a weekly recurring schedule. Recurring schedules require Growth or higher.
  • Buy three of the same product, get one free: Use Buy X Get Y. Set the buy quantity to three, group by product, and set the reward quantity to one at 100% off.
  • Spend more, save more: Use Tiered Discount. Add spend or quantity thresholds; the highest qualifying tier applies. Tiered Discount requires Core or higher.
  • Add a free gift for qualifying products: Use Gift with Purchase. Select the gift variant and target qualifying products, tags, or collections. Gift with Purchase requires Growth or higher.

Payment and delivery controls

  • Hide cash on delivery on high-value carts: Use Hide Payment Method with a cart-total condition.
  • Hide a payment method for wholesale customers: Use Hide Payment Method with a B2B, signed-in customer, or customer-tag condition.
  • Put bank transfer before PayPal: Use Reorder Payment Methods. Wallet methods cannot be reordered; hide one when it should not appear.
  • Rename cash on delivery to “Pay at door”: Use Rename Payment Method and select the payment label maintained in Settings.
  • Hide express shipping for remote areas: Use Hide Shipping Option with country, region, or postal-code criteria.
  • Add a delivery estimate to a shipping label: Use Rename Shipping Option to show a label such as “Standard (3–5 business days).”

Payment and delivery templates require Core or higher.

Restrictions and wholesale

  • Block PO Boxes: Use Address Restrictions. Maintain the detection keywords in Settings. Address Restrictions require Core or higher.
  • Stop shipping to specific countries or regions: Use Address Restrictions and scope the rule by destination.
  • Prevent two products from being purchased together: Use Product Restrictions with a blocked companion-product group. Product Restrictions require Growth or higher.
  • Require one product to be purchased with another: Use Product Restrictions in require-with mode. Product Restrictions require Growth or higher.
  • Sell products only in packs of 12: Use Quantity Restrictions with a fixed multiple of 12. Quantity Restrictions require Growth or higher.
  • Set a minimum order amount: Use Order Restrictions with a minimum order-amount condition. Order Restrictions require Core or higher.
  • Cap the number of items per order: Use Order Restrictions with a maximum item-count condition.
  • Let staff or VIP customers bypass a restriction: Add an exception using the appropriate customer tag or customer criteria.

Confirm the configuration

After publishing, build one cart that meets the rule and one that does not. Confirm both checkout outcomes. If the result is unexpected, check the rule status, eligibility conditions, schedule window, and overlapping Shopify or third-party logic in the checkout scan guide.
